RSG Recommits To Urban Dev …Issues 300 C of Os
The Surveyor-General of Rivers State, Mr. Noel Elenwo has said that the present administration in the State has issued over 300 Certificate of Occupancy (CofOs) within the last one year and seven months in office.
Elenwo, who said this during an interactive session with some officers of the 97 Special Operation Squad, Nigerian Airforce, Port Harcourt, also restated the determination of the administration to create more urban centres in the state.
He further said that, the administration was determined to recover all government lands, stressing that individuals who continue to encroach and build permanent structures on government land were doing so at their own peril.
According to him, his office was helping various ministries, departments and agencies with useful information with a view to improving on their services to the people.
Meanwhile, Elenwo has called for collaboration between his office and members of the armed forces with a view to improving on the security of the state.
He said that geospatial data gathered by the office of the Surveyor-General, will be of immense help to the Nigerian Airforce to enable precision targets on hide outs of criminals and facilitate the flushing out of criminality across the state.
The surveyor general also said that information supplied by his office has facilitated flood control and management, especially at Market Junction and St. John’s bus stops along Aba Road, Port Harcourt.
Responding, the Commander, 97 Special Operations Squad, Nigerian Airforces, Port Harcourt, Air Commander Paul Dimfwina, said that, the interactive session was useful, especially as it would help the Air Base to check the perennial flooding in the area.
Dimfwina also commended the Surveyor General for his decision to collaborate with the military, and expressed the hope that the proposed collaboration will be of immense benefits to both the base and the entire country.
