Rivers Uniited Chases Top Players For New Season
In a bid to have an eventful outings in their domestic and continental campaigns next season, 2016 Nigeria League runners-up and CAF Confederation Cup candidate,Rivers United FC has penciled down minimum of 16 top players for the new season.
The amalgamation of Sharks and Dolphins surpassed most expectations when they qualified for feature in next year’s CAF Champions League and they are not leaving anything to chance to ensure they hold their own in Africa’s foremost club competition.
The Port Harcourt club has already agreed personal terms with most of their transfer targets.
The transfer targets include Nasarawa United duo of Ifeanyi Nweke and Esosa Igbinoba, Gabriel Wassa and Lukman Mohammed from Niger Tornadoes as well as midfielders Solomon Okpako and Kelvin Itoya from relegated Warri Wolves.
Former Dolphins winger Efosa Eguakun is staging something of a remarkable comeback after a stint in Sudan.
Rivers United is also chasing one of the hottest strikers in the second-tier Nigeria National League (NNL), Peter Godly Michael and Enugu Rangers hitman, Chinonso Egbuchulam.
Michael has caught the eye after five-star displays from 2016 Federation Cup giant killers Crown FC.
Other targets are Prince Aggrey (Kano Pillars),Moses Ebiyie (Ikorodu United), Okiemute Odah (Lobi Stars), Emeka Ogbu (Heartland), Dayo Ojo (Sunshine Stars) and Charles Henlong (Wikki).
