Rivers To Build Surveyors’ House, If…
The Rivers State Governor, Chief Nyesom Wike, has promised to construct a headquarters edifice for the Nigerian Institute of Quantity Surveyors, if they decide to relocate the headquarters of the association to Rivers State capital, Port Harcourt from Abuja.
Wike made the promise last Wednesday, at the Government House Banquet Hall while hosting members of the Nigerian Institute of Quantity Surveyors to a dinner party.
The governor said, Rivers State Government was willing to partner any association in the development of Rivers State.
He called on the Special Adviser on Lands to ensure the property given to the association which is being occupied by land poacher be restored immediately while noting that the Department of Quantity Survey, which has been discredited due to lack of equipment, will soon be accredited again as government is building a well equipped Faculty of Environmental Sciences that will also house the department.
The governor further called on Nigerian citizens to be wary as there seems to be a lopsided change agenda.
“We will continue to support the President to fight corruption, follow the rule of law and due process but where a party will be given advantage to produce their own electoral material and result sheet… but we will not fold our arms and allow that to happen”, he said.
The President of the association, Mercy Torkwase Iyortyer, thanked the governor for sponsoring the institution’s two-day workshop and the General Assembly Meeting with theme, “Building Information Modelling”, in Port Harcourt.
“Our record of infrastructure is highly impressive. Within this short period, we observed that Rivers State is being transformed, peaceful and good governance is being given to the people”, she said.
