Rivers Muslims Pray For Wike … As 125 Return From Hajj

Muslims in Rivers State
have held a special prayer session in honour of the State Governor, Chief Nyesom Wike for sponsoring 100 out of 125 muslims in the state for the 2016 Hajj exercise.
The muslim faithful also lauded the government for being the only state across the federation that sponsored pilgrims to Hajj this year.
Speaking at a special thanks giving prayer service organised by the Chairman, State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board, Alhaji Mustapha Jackrich at Borokiri in Port Harcourt yesterday, Chairman of the occasion, Alhaji Kaseem Chima Okachi, said the programme was put together to reciprocate the state governor’s gesture to the muslims in the state.
Okachi lauded Wike for sponsoring 100 Muslim faithful from the State to the Holy land despite the daunting economic challenges in the country, adding that they would ever remain grateful to him even as he assured of the support of the muslim community in the state.
The chairman also used the occasion to laud the leadership qualities of chairman of the muslims board, adding that the success of the state contingent to 2016 Hajj exercise was as a result of good leadership of the board.
He averred that 2016 Hajj exercise was historic as it was the first time state muslim pilgrims at the Holy land was spending a week in the exercise.
Also speaking, Alhaji Jackrich thanked the State Governor, Chief Nyesom Wike for giving 100 muslims the opportunity to participate in this year’s Hajj when the federal and other state governments were unable to sponsor any pilgrims to Mecca due to the economic crunch.
Jackrich said the thanks giving service/prayer session was organised to thank Allah for the successful 2016 Hajj exercise as well as to pray for the governor, his family and the entire state, adding that the service was the first to be organised among muslims in the state.
He used the opportunity to sue for unity, peace and love among all Muslims in the state.
The climax of the event was special prayer offered for Wike and family, the state and the nation. Two lectures were delivered during the programme.
