Police Kill Three Robbers In Rivers
The Rivers State Police Command says it has killed three suspected armed robbers who allegedly planned to attack a commercial airliner in, (ARIK Air) in the State.
The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Nnamdi Omoni disclosed this while briefing journalists over the killings of the armed robbers, Monday along UTC junction in Port Harcourt.
DSP Omoni said the armed robbers gang were smashed following a tip-off information, adding that the IG monitoring team intercepted them at UTC function.
According to him, the robbers engaged the police team on a gun battle and in the process, he said the police gun down two of the robbers and arrested one alive.
The police spokesperson averred that the police had received the information about the operation and planning of the gung for a period of one month and added that notice check on the gang paid-off on Monday. ASP Omoni said the arrested gang member of the armed robbery squad has confessed to the police of their involvement in various crimes in the state.
He further disclosed that the police also received 1 GMP riffle, one AK 47, two fully loaded magazines from the gang.
