NSA Holds Counter-Terrorism Training For Security Agents

quet, Government House, Owerri, Imo State, was filled to capacity recently as some resource persons drawn from different security fields under the directive and supervision of the National Security Adviser’s Office, Abuja, have imparted wonderful security knowledge into the audience made up of different security outfits and other individuals.
The workshop, tagged, “National Sensitization on the Implementation of the National Counter Terrorism Strategy (NACTEST)”, was flagged off by the Governor of Imo State, represented by the Secretary to the Government, George Eche, with a brief speech anchored on the desired contributions of individuals towards fighting all forms of terrorism in Nigeria for the actualization of peace.
In the keynote address, the National Security Advised, Monguno said the NACTEST workshop was geared towards educating all the national and State Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) on the necessity of undertaking programmes and projects that are especially counter terrorism specific and counter terrorism relevant.
He also stressed the need to establish desk officers and liaison Officers in various state MDAs as it is operational at the national level for the effective execution of the outlined counter-terrorism strategy, with constant supervision and evaluation of performance from above.
In the same vein, he said the country should strive towards dynamic antics of the terrorists, by deploying all her national power and authority with the coordination of all the security outfits via security information sharing.
Some of the sub-topics handled during the workshop included: “Threats to National Security” by Barrister Mijinyawa and the “National Security Architecture” delivered by JD Yakubu.
In a similar development, the Security Adviser to the Imo State Governor, D.I.G Hillary Opara, (rtd) commended the importance of the workshop towards fighting terrorism in Nigeria by the responsible security outfits, and thereby providing a peaceful atmosphere for healthy development.
He made the statement while interacting with newsmen on the sidelines of the event, noting that the impact of the workshop would strengthen the effectiveness of Imo police to provide a free-crime atmosphere for the successful celebration of the forthcoming Christmas.
