Crime Busters FC of
Enugu on Tuesday commenced the screening of players into the team ahead of the 2016/2017 Nigeria Nation-Wide League-1 (NNWL-1) kick-off.
The club’s Manager, Ebere Amaraizu, told newsmen in Enugu that the screening was to fortify the team technically and tactically ahead of the start to season.
Tidesports gathered that the League Management Company (LMC) had yet to fix a date for the kick-off of the competition.
Amaraizu disclosed that the screening had commenced at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium, Enugu with players coming from clubs in the South-East and beyond.
“The exercise, which has already commenced at the main-bowl of Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium, Enugu, is headed by Coach Edmund Ndukanma, the team’s technical consultant.
“Ndukanma had just returned from a coaching course at the Nigeria Institute of Sports (NISports), Lagos, alongside the coaching crew of the club.
“They have been charged to come up with young and talented legs as good replacement for some vacant positions in the team which is also known as the Police Machine,’’ he said.
He noted that there should be good replacements for the left full back defender, Stephen Ugwu, who is currently undergoing football trials with FC Inhulets Pet Rove, a second division premier league club in Ukraine.
“We also need a good replacement for our striker, James Nicholas, who has joined Abia Warriors FC of Umuahia among others,’’ he said.
Amaraizu said that those selected in the first phase of the screening for the Police Machine would be subjected to technical and tactical screening before embarking on medical screening.
