Ikhana Promises Pillars Continental Ticket
Coach Kadiri Ikhana says he hopes to reclaim the Nigeria League Championship before winning a continental trophy for Kano Pillars on his return “home”.
Ikhana is in a third spell at Pillars and next year he will celebrate his 70th birthday.
“I want to lead Pillars to be champions again and then be African champions”, he declared at his official unveiling at the Green Desert Hotel in Kano.
“It will not be easy but Pillars are a brand and they deserve to return to their rightful position.
“I started from Kano and I hope I retire here. So, I am back home”.
“I will therefore call on the prayers and support of people of Kano for us to succeed”.
He first handled the club in 1997, before he returned in 2007 to lead them to a historic championship the following year.
Pillars chairman Tukur Babangida said Ikhana, who led the Kano outfit to their first Nigeria league title in 2008, was reappointed based on his experience, discipline and knowledge of the football politics at home and abroad.
