FAAN Targets 7.3bn Air Passengers By 2034
The Managing Director,
Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), Engr Saleh Dunoma, says the global number of air passengers is expected to reach 7.3 billion by the year 2034.
He said that this number, according to the international Air Transport Association (IATA) 20 years passenger growth forcast, represents a 4.1 percent average annual growth in demand for air connectivity, and that African airports are rated amongst the fastest growing markets.
The FAAN Boss in a statement from the Corporate Affairs, made available to newsmen, noted that Nigeria airports were therefore expanding their user handling capacity both in the aeronautics and non-aeronautics services.
He said “The Federal Government of Nigeria as the primary Investor in the country’s 23 airports is gradually opening doors for genuine private investors to partner and work with the government to explore the various opportunities in the sector”.
The FAAN Chief executive officer explained that beyond improving operational efficiency and passenger facilitation, that the new terminal, when completed will beef up opportunities for more investors and investments.
According to him, such will make the airport more user-friendly and offer passenger a whole new travel experience in line with International Standards and practices.
He said that stakeholders and partners in airport services delivery including the airlines, handling companies, retailers, contractors among others have been aligned with this objective through periodic training.
