DSS Wants Useful Information To Combat Crime
Director, Department of State Services (DSS) in Anambra State, Mr Isyaku Yusuf, has urged Nigerians to provide useful information to security agencies to make the fight against crime more effective in the country.
Yusuf gave the advice at the Rojenny Games Village and Tourists Centre, Oba, Anambra State, while speaking with officials of Drivers Welfare Association in the state.
He said that it was such collaboration that could make the entire country a-no-hiding-place for criminal elements.
The director said that he had come to see the owner of the facility, Chief Rommy Ezeonwuka, to solicit his partnership in strengthening the security apparatus in the state.
He said transport operators were very instrumental to security arrangement in any community, adding that they were more likely to know who the passengers were and their destinations.
The director, who lauded Governor Willie Obiano of Anambra State for his commitment toward the existing peace and security in the state, said the department was determined to sustain the tempo.
“We are determined to improve on the security situation in the state; there is strong collaboration among the security agencies, ‘’ he said.
Yusuf assured that genuine informers would be protected, adding that the department was working to ensure that Christmas and New Year celebrations were celebrated under a peaceful atmosphere.
The Chairman of the association, Mr Anthony Ogbugo, said that members of the union were ready to collaborate with security agencies to achieve greater security.
Ogbugo said though high profile criminality had almost gone extinct in the state, small crimes were assuming menacing dimension.
He said that members of the association understood the environment due to the nature of their job and were willing to provide useful information if their protection would be.
