…As IPAC Pledges Peaceful Polls
The Inter Party Advisory Council of Nigeria (IPAC) has restate its commitment to a peaceful poll in Rivers State even as it pledged to abide by the electoral processes in the proposed conclusion of the legislative polls in the state.
The Deputy Chairman of IPAC, Rivers State chapter, Engineer Joshua Worlu who stated this in a telephone interview with The Tide Sunday, also condemned the plan by a political party to rig the elections through printing of fake ballot papers, stressing that security agencies should investigate the incident properly and prosecute those involved in the crime.
Worlu who is also the Rivers State Chairman of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), assured that IPAC will continue to stand firm in her commitment to a peaceful, safe and secure elections, commending the Rivers State Governor, Chief Nyesom Ezenwo Wike in his efforts in combating crime and militancy in state.
According to him, ’’His efforts to grant amnesty to militants and donations of patrol vehicles to the police in Rivers State were some of the efforts to discourage criminality and militancy in the state’’.
He urged the INEC not to compromise in any form during the planned conclusion of the polls in the state, adding that the arrest of some persons printing ballot papers was an evidence that a particular political party was out to rig the December 10th re-run elections.
Worlu regretted the non completion of the polls in Rivers State, stating that it is high time the political parties, INEC and the police worked together for the conclusion, decrying the continued extension of the polls in the state.
