A senior lecturer in the
Faulty of Law of the Rivers State University of Science and Technology, Dr. (Barr.) Samuel Chisa Dike, has expressed satisfaction with the way and manner the Governor of Rivers State, Chief Nyesom Wike has been piloting the affairs of the state and putting in place enviable and enduring basic infrastructure as well as promoting peace in the state.
Dike, who made the remarks in an interview with The Tide in Port Harcourt said the amnesty programme of the government had equally restored peace to communities which hitherto had been flashpoints of criminality, especially cultism and kidnapping, noting that Governor Wike’s wisdom and forthrightness in fashioning out the amnesty programme were most commendable.
The university teacher, who holds a PhD in Energy Law stressed the need for peace to be sustained in various parts of the State, and expressed delight that peace had returned to his community, Ubima in Ikwerre Local Government Area.
He appealed to Governor Wike to empower those who had embraced the amnesty programme and also prevail on companies like Siat which is located in Ubima community to employ some of the youths.
He accused Siat of not doing much to carry the people of Ubima along by providing employment to the teeming youths of the area, saying, this is the time for the company and others in the state to assist the government in this direction.
Dike, who described himself as an admirer of Governor Wike’s leadership style as well as his ardent supporter said the present administration had also recorded development milestones in the areas of road construction and rehabilitation, education, health and agriculture, among others and enjoined the governor to sustain the tempo.
According to him, traffic congestions that used to be the order of the day in Port Harcourt and its environs have disappeared as government has virtually cleared and tarred all the roads.
“Government is doing well. Salaries and pensions are being paid. Everybody is happy with the Governor. Everybody is happy with our new Vice Chancellor. Students are happy. Lecturers are happy. The Faculty of Law is wearing a new look. Wike’s achievements are second to none”, he said.
