Traditional Ruler Praises Wike Over Amnesty

A traditional ruler in
Obio/Akpor Local Government Area of Rivers State, Chief Island Chinedu Amadikeogu, has lauded the state Governor, Barr Ezebunwo Nyesom Wike for granting amnesty to repentant cultists in the various local government areas of the state.
Chief Amadikeogu stated this while speaking with journalists, shortly after he was coronated as the traditional ruler for Owhonda group of Houses in Rumueme by the Paramount Ruler and Apiti of Rumeme Kingdom, HRM O.N. Nsirim at his palace Rumueme over the weekend.
He stated that the offer by the state government to these group of persons would help to address the challenges of insecurity in the state, adding that the position of government should be commended in this regard.
According to him, no society can develop in an atmosphere of acrimony and rancour, adding that all hands must be on deck in this direction in order to build a peaceful environment for the state. Chief Amadikeogu used the opportunity to call on repentant cultists to take advantage of the state government amnesty offer by becoming responsible citizens and contribute their quota in the development of the state.
He stated that the amnesty programme would enable the state government and security agencies to mop up arms across various LGAs in the state, adding that such would promote peaceful environment and reduce the crime rate to the barest minimum.
The traditional ruler promised to engage youth and women in the area and provide them with empowerment skills that would make them useful in the society, adding that an idle mind was susceptible to crimes.
