Tam-George Slams Abe Over Bodo Road

The Rivers State Government has berated Senator Magnus Abe and his All Progressives Congress (APC) co – travellers over the pathetic false propaganda being peddled about the status of the Kpopie-Bodo Road, awarded to Abe but abandoned during the previous administration.
In a statement by the Commissioner for Information and Communications, Dr Austin Tam-George, yesterday, the Rivers State Government noted that its attention has been drawn to yet another pathetic propaganda by the Rivers State APC on the Kpopie-Bodo Road, in Ogoni, and Senator Magnus Abe’s disgraceful role in the abandonment of that road project.
The statement recalled that in a radio interview in Port Harcourt on the 4th October, 2016, Tam-George had stated repeatedly and unequivocally that the Rivers State Government has records of contracts awarded to a company with links to Magnus Abe.
A week earlier, at the flag-off of the reconstruction of the Kpopie-Bodo Road, the Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike, had publicly accused Magnus Abe of abandoning the reconstruction of the road project, even when money for the project was released to his company.
In his radio interview, the information commissioner restated the governor’s allegations against Magnus Abe, and challenged the former lawmaker to refund the money to the Rivers State coffers.
At no stage throughout the radio interview did the Commissioner “exonerate” or “vindicate” Magnus Abe as the APC falsely claimed.
“This is just another rotten stew of lies and misrepresentation by the APC,” Tam-George said.
The records do exist, and no propaganda or campaign of obfuscation by Magnus Abe or the APC will stop the Rivers State Government from exposing those who pillaged the state treasury during the tenure of the past administration”, the commissioner added.
