Senate Refers NCC Board Members’ Screening To Committee

The Senate,
yesterday, referred Senator Olabiyi Durojaiye from the South West as the chairman, Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC), Board to the Committee on Communications for screening before subsequent confirmation by the upper chambers.
The resolution of the Senate was sequel to Executive Communication by Senate Leader, Ali Ndume, “that the Senate do consider the request of the President and Commander-in-Chief for the confirmation of the nominees to the Board of the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) in accordance with Section 8(1(a) of the NCC Act, 2003.
Also referred to the Senator Gilbert Nnaji-led Committee on Communications are Mr. Sunday Dare, media aide to the National Leader of All Progressives Congress (APC), Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, also from South West as the Executive Commissioner, Stakeholders Management.
Other members nominated as Non-Executive Commissioners are: Aliyu Sa’idu Abubakar (North East), Clement Omeiza Baiye (North Central), Chief Okoi Ofem Obono Obla (South South), Pastor Ezekiel Yissa (North Central) and Senator Ifeanyi Ararume (South East).
Senate President, Dr Bukola Saraki, gave the committee two weeks to submit its report to the Senate for consideration and confirmation of the nominees.
