Rumuodogo People Send SOS To Wike Over Road
A cross section of elders,
youths and women of Rumuodogo community in the Emohua Local Government Area have embarked on a peaceful protest over the poor condition of the community road.
The protesters who marched round the community also urged Governor Ezenwo Nyesom Wike to include the community’s road in the 2017 budget.
Speaking in an interview with newsmen, the Chairman of Community Development Committee (CDC) Rumuodogo Comrade Eze Ishmael Otto said that the 8 kilometre roads which runs to from the East/West Road through the community to Harry’s Town in the Degema Local Government Area is in a state of disrepair
He said that attempt by both the Dr. Peter Odili and Rotimi Amaechi’s administrations to embark on the construction of the road have failed due to the refusal by contractors to start the project.
The CDC chairman also said that the situation has grounded economic activities in the area as women could no longer go to the farm.
Also speaking, the women leader of the community, Mrs Elizabeth Ahulele said that the women can no longer go to farms as the road is completely flooded. Mrs. Ahulele pleaded with the Governor to come to their aide as the people are facing severe starvation.
The women leader also complained that the community lacked other social amenities such as health centre, schools and others.
On his part, the youth leader of the community, Mr. Samuel Nlerum aid that the situation is affecting the socio-economic development of the community.
He also pleaded with Governor Ezenwo Nyesom Wike to assist the community through the construction of their road.
He also pledged the support of the community to the administration of Governor Ezenwo Nyesom Wike.
