The Rivers State Commissioner, for Budget and Economic Planning, Isaac Kamalu, has called on the people of the State to participate actively in the on-going National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) Data Collection in the 23 Local Government Areas of the State.
Kamalu, who made the call in a statement in Port Harcourt yesterday, said, the exercise had commenced since September 21st and would end December 22nd, 2016.
According to Kamalu, NBS in collaboration with UNICEF would be going round selected areas in the State with the sole aim of collecting data which would be used to assess the situation of children, women and households, in the areas of health, education, and child protection, among others.
He further hinted that the data collated would also be used to monitor some of the indicators and targets of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in the state.
The Commissioner appealed to the people of the State, Local Government Chairmen, Chiefs, Community leaders as well as residents of the affected enumeration areas to give their maximum support and cooperation to the field officers to actualize set goals.
