Para-Soccer Federation Lauds Sponsors
The Para-Soccer
Federation of Nigeria (PSFN) has commended the Nigeria National Polio Plus Committee (NNPPC) under Rotary International and others for ensuring that physically challenged persons engaged in sports.
The federation also thanked New Ventures Fund (NVF), a U.S.-based organisation for co-sponsoring the tournament.
The President of PSFN, Misbahu Lawan, expressed the federation’s appreciation in an interview with newsmen in Port Harcourt on Sunday.
Lawan, who is the founder of the game, said that the tournament could not have been possible without the sponsors.
He said that the Para-soccer tournament started four years ago and was seriously supported by the NNPPC under Rotary International and NVF.
“Their support and sponsorship has really given the physically challenged a means of livelihood. We no longer feel abandoned because of our disability.
“As disabled, we now have ability in our disability with the annual sponsorship of the competition. I sincerely thank our sponsors on behalf of the federation,’’ he said.
The 4th Edition of the World Polio Day National Para-Soccer Tournament is going on at the Indoor Sports Hall of the University of Port Harcourt (UNIPORT), Sports Complex.
Four states, Kano and Nasarawa; Katsina and Rivers will play in the semi-finals by 3.30 and 5 p.m. respectively on Sunday.
