The leadership of the
Non-Academic Staff Union of Educational and Associated Institutions (NASU), has urged the Federal Government to immediately comply with the provisions of the Pension Reform Act 2014.
The union stated this in a communiqué issued at the end of its National Executive Council (NEC) meeting held in Abuja on Tuesday and signed by the union’s National President, Comrade Chris Ani, and Secretary-General, Comrade Peter Adeyemi, respectively.
The union’s NEC also called on the federal government to tackle the economic recession with commitment and proactive solution, stressing that the recession is biting harder on workers.
The NEC called for regular and prompt payment of salaries to reduce the level of hardship and suffering Nigerian workers are presently going through.
The union decried the situation of the federal government not showing much commitment to the welfare of polytechnics workers and poor state of infrastructure.
It advised the government to ensure that adequate funds are released to clear all outstanding arrears of the staff and other personnel endowment of the tertiary institution staff.
