LG Boss Assures Repentant Cultists Of Govt’s Support

taker Committee of Akuku-Toru Local Government Area of Rivers State, Hon. Tonye Alalibo, has assured repentant cultists in the area of government’s support.
Alalibo gave the assurance when the State Amnesty Committee led by its Chairman, Sir Ken Chinda, visited the local government on a mop up of arms programme on Wednesday.
He commended the bravery and courage demonstrated by the repentant cultists in the local government who had dropped their arms to accept the amnesty provided by the state government.
According to him, the gesture has provided a second chance for the repentant youth to become responsible members of the society.
He averred that illegal activities of youth in the creeks of the LGA had resulted in loss of lives and property as well as economic investments, and assured the repentant cultists who surrendered their arms that the state government would keep to its promise of training those who genuinely turn over a new leaf and be productive in order to become viable for employers of labour, even as he promised the committee of his administration’s support to enable it succeed on its mandate.
Earlier, the Chairman of the committee, Sir Ken Chinda had used the opportunity to encourage those yet to embrace the offer to do so before they incur the wrath of the government.
He disclosed that armed robbery, kidnapping, assassination, sea piracy, among other criminal activities have rendered the aquatic wealth of the state useless since investors can no longer explore the abundant natural resources available in riverine areas of the State.
