Judges’ Arrest Stalls Court Proceedings In Rivers
The Judiciary ac
tivities and Court Proceedings were paralysed yesterday at the various High Courts within the Port Harcourt Division in Rivers State, following the arrest of some judges by the DSS across the country.
Our correspondent reports that there were no court proceedings at both Federal and State High Courts since Monday’s alleged clamp down on corrupt judges across the states.
At the Federal High Court, lawyers and litigants were seen moving from one court registrar to the other to take new dates for their matters.
Our correspondent also reports that the situation was the same at both State High Courts.
One of the ligigants, Mr Echeful told our correspondent that the situation was preventable if the rule of law was followed to arrest the judges by the DSS, adding that he was not in support of corruption but maintained that due process must be followed.
