Group Wants FG To Constitute Reconciliation Committee

Youth Congress (IYC), Mr Bright Ezeocha has urged the Federal Government to constitute a National Reconciliation Committee to facilitate national unity for the progress and development of the nation.
Ezeocha made the call in an interview with newsmen in Lagos on the occasion of Nigeria’s 56th Independence Anniversary.
According to him, the bedrock to the growth and development of any nation is unity and peace, sayig that a divided nation cannot record progress.
“There’s need to constitute a national reconciliation committee of respectable elders in our republic to foster unity in the country; Nigeria is highly divided at the moment, a nation divided cannot progress.
“If there is unity, some people will not carry arms and begin to bombard and destroy oil installations. The Federal Government must see the task of unifying the nation as an important one.
“We need a national reconciliation committee to bring every geo-political zone together, so as to settle for development,” he said.
Ezeocha said that the primary function of the government, besides security, should be the provision of basic needs to put smiles on the faces of its citizens.
“The Federal Government needs more work to revive the dwindling economy. This administration needs to redouble efforts at reducing the suffering and hunger among the people.
“We request that the FG should reconstitute the nation’s economic team to meet the expectations and demands of  present day Nigeria.”
Ezeocha urged the President to do more, not only to expose corruption in the past administrations, but also to block the menace in his government, as well as reduce the cost of governance.
He implored the Federal Government to sincerely deal with the issue of dialogue with the Niger Delta Avengers and other militant groups whose activities had been affecting the revenue of government.
On the World Igbo Day 2016 Celebration, Ezeocha said that Ndigbo had no cause to celebrate, but would reflect on ways to salvage the region from suffering and dearth of basic infrastructures.
He urged the religious and traditional leaders of Ndigbo to always tell political office holders from the region the truth all the time.
