Rivers United Manager, Stanley Eguma, said yesterday that the 2015/2016 Nigeria Professional Football  league (NPFL) season was competitive and interesting.
Rivers United placed second with 60 points at the end of the league.
Eguma told newsmen in Port Harcourt that the League Management Company (LMC) did very well in sponsorship and organisation.
“There were improvements in sponsorship, organisation and officiating. The LMC did very well; I will rate it as one of the best league seasons so far.
“ Most of the match venues were television friendly. Officiating really improved because clubs got good results on the road,” he said.
According to Eguma, some of the games recorded surprising results because of good officiating and it was a big plus for football in the country.
“ Security was also tight in many match venues. I suggest that the LMC should look into reported lapses in some venues and correct them,” he said.
The Manager said live coverage of matches gave it good publicity and made access to information on the league easy.
“ Information on the league was easy and accessible to all clubs. We appeal to the LMC to smoothen areas of lapses in the next season,” Eguma said.
