CTC Chairman Orders Payment Of Salaries
There were jubila
tions by members of the National Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE), Port Harcourt, as the new Chairman of the Caretaker Committee, Port Harcourt City Local Government council, Hon. Christian Chiokwa ordered the payment of two months’ salaries of workers of the local government. The workers were owed five months salaries.
Chiokwa who gave the order while swearing in members of the committee last Monday said he would make welfare of staff and other incentives his priority.
He charged the caretaker committee members to conduct themselves in a manner worthy of emulation with a view to ensuring significant development of Port Harcourt City.
He, however, appointed Kevi Wami as the Supervisor for Works; Princewill Welli, Transport; Ninayo Igani, Agriculture; Obi Echeonwu, Health; Ahehule Ejigini, and Berego Whyte, Sports and Youths, respectively.
He also appointed Solomon Ogbonna as the council secretary and Chijioke Chikere, Chief of Protocol.
