Experienced Zakary Baraje is the front runner to be named the new coach of Kano Pillars, it can exclusively be reported.
Pillars new chairman Tukur Babangida has said his immediate task is to appoint a new coach in place of Mohammed Babaganaru, who resigned at the end of the past season.
Baraje, who is widely expected to be considered for the top Pillars post ahead of several foreign and local coaches, only recently quit his post as Plateau United after he ensured their safety in the top flight.
Last year, he led Akwa United to an historic Federation Cup triumph at the expense of highly fancied Lobi Stars.
He has previously worked at Niger Tornadoes, Dolphins as well as Enyimba.
Meanwhile, Nigeria Olympic team assistant coach Fatai Amoo is set to be announced as the new boss of Nigeria premier league side Shooting Stars.
It will be his second spell at ‘The Oluyole Warriors’ after he first too charge of the Ibadan club between 2009 and 2011.
Top officials disclosed that Amoo’s appointment will be made public this week.
He will replace Gbenga Ogunbote, who is on his way to securing a top post after Abdu Maikaba was considered ahead of him for the Akwa United top job.
His contract with the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) ended with the recent Rio Olympics in Brazil.
Former Nigeria midfielder Amoo has previously handled Julius Berger, Sunshine Stars and Enyimba.
