AKULGA Boss Moves To Tackle Sea Piracy, Kidnapping

The Chairman Care-
taker Committee of Akuku-Toru Local Government Area of Rivers State, Hon Tonye Alalibo, says his administration would tackle the problem of seapiracy and kidnapping in the area.
Hon Alalibo stated this while speaking at a reception organised in his honour shortly after he was sworn in by the State Governor, Chief Nyesom Wike in Port Harcourt, Monday.
He stated that the insecurity which has become a major challenge to the people especially the riverine communities in the local government area would be a thing of past.
According to him, the present administration under his watch in the area would ensure that the people of the area move along without any forms of molestation by criminal elements in the area.
The AKULGA CTC boss want those people who are indulging in sea piracy and kidnapping and other criminal acts that are inimical to growth of the area to shun such attitudes and live normal life or be prepared to face the full weight of the government.
He averred that his administration can not fold its arms and watch few disgruntled elements to hold the entire local government council under siege.
He used the opportunity to call on the youth in the area to give peace a chance, adding that development of any area was a collective responsibility of everybody, “as no development can thrive in an atmosphere devoid of peace and rancour”.
Hon Alalibo assured the people of the area that he would carry everybody along in the scheme of things even as he assured workers of prompt payment of their salaries throughout his tenure.
Also speaking, a chieftain of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in the area, Alabo Engineer Austine Bobmanuel thanked the State Governor for appointing an oceania Man to be the chairman of the local government area, adding that he was confident that the new helmsman of the council would bring his wealth of experience to bear in his new calling.
