Wike’s Dev Strides, Legendary …Tam-George Says Gov, A Rare Democrat
The Rivers State Commissioner for Information and Communications, Dr. Austin Tam-George, has described Governor Nyesom Wike’s development strides in Rivers State as revolutionary.
Tam-George stated this while receiving a delegation of an NGO, Pathfinders Progressive Foundation (PPF), on a courtesy call in his office, in Port Harcourt.
The Information Commissioner disclosed that Governor Wike’s development blueprint for the transformation of Rivers State accords priority attention to partnership and coalition with NGOs, Community-Based Organisations, and professional bodies to place Rivers State on the highest pedestal of development among the comity of states.
He said the governor’s commitment to the development of the state was portrayed in his use of scarce funds to achieve unprecedented infrastructural and human capacity development in the state.
The Commissioner stated that the Rivers State Government was ready to partner with the PPF in the area of public sensitisation and enlightenment of Rivers people against social ills such as cultism, kidnapping and vandalisation of public assets.
Earlier, the Chairman of the PPF, Mr. Anthony Odum, had stated that the visit was to identify with the visionary objectives of Governor Wike, which he said had created much development impact in Rivers State.
In an address, presented by the P.R.O. of the body, Mr. Timiepere Yingomone, the NGO commended the governor for championing “the partnership of corporate bodies in the reconstruction of the damaged section of the East-West Road leading to Onne Seaport and Industry Road in Port Harcourt, as well as the timely completion of IIoabuchi-Eagle Island link road and Bridge, NLNG-Nkpogu Link road, Dr Peter Odili-Woji link road, Rumuolumeni Road, Harold Wilson-Borikiri New Road, among others.
The body also lauded Wike for the sponsorship of the Executive Bill on Anti-Kidnapping which has been passed into law by the Rivers State House of Assembly.
Highlight of the visit was the presentation of a plague of honour to the commissioner.
