Women
Who Is A Woman Of Virtue?
Every woman pro
fesses good virtues and wants to be addressed as such. But in truth, not all women possess virtues or are of good virtues.
A virtue, according to the Oxford Advanced Learners’ Dictionary, means behavior or attitudes that show high moral standards.
A virtuous woman is more than a jewel or embodiment of beauty. She must have the inner beauty that comes from God. She has the creativity and sense of compassion that creates beauty in her life and the lives of her loved ones.
Looking at the 10 virtues of a woman in the Bible, Proverbs 31, a virtuous woman serves God with all her heart, mind and soul. She seeks God’s will for her life and follows His ways.
In marriage, a woman of good virtues is a delight to her husband, children and family members. She is trustworthy, faithful, loyal and humble to her husband. She nurtures her children with the love of Christ, disciplines them with care and wisdom and trains them in the ways of God.
She attends to everyone around her with gentle and loving spirit. She creates an inviting atmosphere of warmth and love for her family member and everyone around her.
A woman of virtue is charitable in terms of finances, yet she spends money wisely. She has a high sense of good quality and yet avoids extravagance. She is strong and industrious. She knows her value and for everything she does, she makes her own thread.
A virtuous woman is a good manager of time. She uses her time wisely. She works diligently and does not spend her time on frivolities and those things that do not please the Lord. She takes pleasure in her duties and she is very careful and thorough.
She does not only take careful measure of herself, but also gives good advice to others. The law of love and kindness is written in her heart and she shows this in her tongue and actions. She is loving, caring and compassionate. She is good in giving as in getting and does it freely and cheerfully.
A woman of virtue is a righteous woman. She is firm in decision and her words are her bond. She is always discreet and obliging. Every word she utters carries weight and can be relied upon. She governs herself by the rules of wisdom. She does not allow disappointment to weigh her down. She rather takes disappointment and setback as a challenge that must be overcome.
Being a virtuous woman is not about beauty alone. Beauty recommends none to God, nor is it any proof of wisdom and goodness. But the fear of God reigning in the heart is the beauty of the soul. It lasts forever. Unfortunately, beauty has deceived many men who had based their choice of a wife on it.
Proverbs 31 Verse 30 says, “Charm is deceitful and beauty is vain. But a woman who fears the Lord shall be praised”.
In a nutshell, there is the need for every woman to be of high moral standards in every aspect of their lives. To every woman of good virtues, the Bible says, “let her works praise her at the city gate”.
Meanwhile, for a woman to be of good virtues, she must resist the enticement of the feminist teachings of our days which have shattered many marriages and families.
