Tanzania’s Skipper Hopes To Beat Nigeria, Soon
The Captain of Tanzania
Mbawana Samata has expressed optimism that his side will one day turn the table against the Super Eagles of Nigeria.
The Super Eagles narrowly beat the Taifa Stars of Tanzania 1-0 in a dead-rubber 2017 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier, on Saturday, at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium in Uyo, Akwa State.
That marked the fifth time both countries would meet without the Tanzanians being able to record a victory over Nigeria.
Samata said this shortly after the encounter, while responding to journalists, monitored in Port Harcourt, from a Television programme.
According to him, he is proud of the performance of his team mates in spite the fact that they lost the game, adding that Super Eagles utilized their chance.
“I am happy that we gave Nigeria a hard time. The game could have gone either way and I am sure the result will be different next time”, Mbawana said.
He continued that the referee did not protect his players as Super Eagles were very rough on.
“Honestly Super Eagles defenders were really hard and rough on us I though referee should have protected us, but there is nothing of such.
The outcome of the match do not mean anything for the two teams, so why should we kill ourselves”, he added.
