Rivers IPAC Flays INEC Over Inconclusive Polls
29 registered political parties
under the aegis of Inter-Parties Advisory Council (IPAC) in Rivers State have described as maltreatment and a rape of democracy the inability of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to conclude the legislative rerun elections in the state.
The political parties, which frowned at the INEC incompetency on Wednesday immediately after a meeting with the Governor of Rivers State, Chief Nyesom Ezenwo Wike in Port Harcourt, said it is saddened that Rivers State has been denied representation at the National and State Assembly nearly two years of the present administration.
Speaking on behalf of the group, the Secretary of IPAC in Rivers State, Hon. Precious Barrido said the political parties in the state would no longer tolerate INEC’s weakness to conduct fair and free rerun elections in the state.
He said IPAC will take legal action against INEC if it failed to conduct a conclusive, fair and free legislative rerun election come October 2016 in the state.
The political parties also commended Governor Nyesom Wike for the developmental strides witnessed so far in the state since his inception of office as Governor of Rivers State.
According to him, IPAC has already passed vote of confidence on Governor Wike, stating that the governor has impacted positively on the lives of Rivers people with the construction of good roads, street lights, traffic lights, renovation of schools and hospitals among others.
He reiterated the political parties readiness to partner with the leadership of the PDP-led government for good governance in the state.
The IPAC scribe called on the APC leadership in the state to shun political diffierences and support Governor Wike-led administration for even development of the state.
