PDP Congratulates Legislators Over Appeal Court Judgement
The Peoples Democratic
Party (PDP) in Rivers State has congratulated four of its legislators for their victories in the Appelate Court last Thursday in Abuja.
The Chairman of the party in the State, Bro. Felix Obuah, in a statement in Port Harcourt said the resounding victory was a serious signal to All Progressives Congress (APC) that the State belongs to PDP despite several attempts by the APC leadership to use federal might against the Rivers people’s mandates.
The Appellate Court upheld the election of Hon. Blessing Nsiegbe representing Port Harcourt Federal Constituency 2 in the House of Representatives.
Others are the State House of Assembly lawmakers, Hon. Sam Ogeh for Emohua Constituency, Martin Amaewhule for Obio/Akpor Constituency 1, and Martin Mannah Ahoada East Constituency 2 of the State.
The Appeal Court, while upholding the election of the lawmakers stated that the various petitions by the respective APC candidates lack merit and therefore dismissed the appeals accordingly.
The latest judgments by the appellate court came few days after a resounding victory by Hon. Okechukwu Kingsley Chinda of the PDP over Mr. Tony Okocha of APC for Obio/Akpor Federal Constituency 1 at the Appeal Court in Abuja.
The PDP Chairman expressed happiness that in the face of all the distractions by APC, the lawmakers will now settled down for their law making assignments in delivering the dividends of democracy to Rivers people and Nigeria in general.
He urged the lawmakers to ensure continued support for the effort of Governor Nyesom Wike in moving the State forward, adding that the electorate that gave them the mandate would be expecting more from them in terms of development.
Obuah called on other political parties including APC in the State to join hands with the elected lawmakers and Governor Wike to fast track the development of the state rather than making futile efforts to pull it down.
