PDP Chides INEC Over Tai Rerun

The Peoples Demo
cratic Party (PDP) in Rivers State again insisted that it will not in any way honour the Independent National Electoral commission (INEC) if the Commission disobeys the court order on the invalidated Tai Legislative rerun election in the state.
The PDP State Publicity Secretary, Hon. Samuel Nwanosike who stated this in a press briefing in Port Harcourt, maintained that elections did not hold in Tai Local Government Area of the State on March 19, 2016.
The party chieftain said it is very unlawful for the commission to make further pronouncement on the rerun election while there is an interlocutory injunction restraining the INEC from doing so.
He accused the INEC Resident Commissioner, Aniedi Ikoiwak and the commission’s officials of partisanship in the election.
“We cannot understand the commission which PDP sued to court.
The INEC Resident Commissioner and the National commissioner are all part of the suits in which we got an interlocutory injunction in a court of competent jurisdiction.
“Let me state clearly that if this interlocutory injunction is vacated, nothing would be done either by accepting any illegal result or announcing any process in favour of any party where election did not hold,” Nwanosike warned.
He urged the Federal Government to call Ikoiwak to order to avoid crisis in the State especially now that the State Governor, Chief Nyesom Ezenwo Wike is taking a pragmatic step to promote peace and security.
Also speaking, the immediate past Care Taker Committee Chairman of Tai Local Government Area called on the people of the area to remain calm, saying any decision contrary to the earlier one on the cancellation of the rerun legislative election in the area is unacceptable.
