One Killed, Four Injured In Auto-Crash
The Federal Road
Safety Commission (FRSC), has confirmed that one person died while four others sustained injuries in an accident on Abakaliki-Afikpo road.
The Ebonyi Sector Commander of the commission, Mr Charles Aborchi, told newsmen that the accident involved an 18-seater bus and an articulated vehicle.
He said the body of the deceased had been deposited at the Federal Teaching Hospital, Abakaliki while the injured were receiving treatment in the same hospital.
Aborchi attributed the accident to speed violation, adding that operatives of the commission were drafted to the scene to ensure free flow of traffic.
“According to preliminary investigation, the accident was a collision between the bus and the articulated vehicle,’’ he said.
The sector commander restated that speed violation was responsible for 60 per cent of road crashes in the country and urged motorists to abide by the speed limit.
He also reminded them that the installation of speed limiting device would be enforced on October 1 and urged motorists to install the device before the date.
