Kidnapping: Rivers Police Assures Of Cleric’s Release

lice command says efforts are been made to ensure timely release of an Adventist Cleric, Pastor Sylvanus Ogbu, who was kidnapped over the weekend from the hands of his abductors.
Pastor Sylvanus Ogbu was abducted by unknown gunmen suspected to be kidnappers at Obele in Emohua Local Government Area of the state over the weekend.
The State Commissioner of Police CP Francis Mobolaji, Odesanya stated this while confirming the kidnap incident in a telephone chat with our correspondent at the weekend in Port Harcourt.
CP Odesanya said already he was aware of the incident and added that he had directed the various tactical units in the area to swing into action in that regard.
He assured that the police would live up to its expectation in ensuring a timely release of the Adventist pastor adding that the police will comb the various areas.
“I have received a call from the family on the incident. What I will assure you is that we do our best to secure his timely release, already I had directed all the tactical units to swing into operation”, he stated.
A source said that the alleged kidnappers invaded the house of the clergy at about 2 am on Sunday and took him away to an unknown destination.
Pastor Ogbu is the district pastor of the Seventh-Day Adventist Church in Obele, Emohua Local Government Area of the state.
