IPAC Carpets INEC Over Rivers Rerun Polls
The Inter Party Advisory
Council (IPAC) in Rivers State, has carpeted the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for its failure to conduct remaining national legislature elections in the state.
Speaking during a solidarity visit t the State Governor, Chief Nyesom Wike, Chairman of IPAC, Bro. Felix Obuah who spoke through the state secretary, Hon. Precious Baridoo, said the situation has denied citizens of the Rivers effective representation.
Besides, it said the attempt to announce the result of Tai elections by INEC has clearly show that the electoral umpire is biased and is bent on manipulating the result in favour of the opposition, the All Progressive Congress (APC).
The body called on IPAC to do the right thing as they pledged support to the administration of Chief Wike in the state.
According to the IPAC Chairman, “INEC should provide a level playing ground to conduct the remaining re-run elections”.
Consequently, the body consisting of registered political parties has appealed to the state governor to help it pay for an office in Port Harcourt and to include IPAC members in government activities.
They commended the leadership style of Chief Wike in the state saying he has surpassed expectations.
According to them, despite the hardtimes, the Rivers State governor has displayed vision and doggedness in paying workers salaries and embarking on some developmental projects.
They cited the operation zero pothole, road construction and schools rehabilitation as areas the governor has shown visionary leadership.
For them, the governor has revived the pride of the Rivers man by making sure the battered image of the State has been reconstructed to attract investors and tourists.
