The Ignatius Ajuru
University of Education (IAUE) is set to commence its Post Graduate (PG) School by the end of this month.
This is sequel to the accreditation of all 23 programmes of the institution by the Nigeria Universities Commission (NUC) at the end of its recent verification inspection of facilities in the university.
Acting Vice Chancellor of the University, Professor Joseph Kinanee disclosed this Thursday in an exclusive interview with The Tide.
According to him, although the university had established a Post Graduate School in the past, it could not commence the programme because only two of its 23 programmes were accreditated.
“We have a Post Graduate School, but we have not been able to commence PG programmes because we had not gotten full accreditation, which is one of the requirements.
“Since all our programmes have full accreditation now, we are set to go into PG programmes before the end of this month (September 2016). We should have our forms on sale soon”, he said.
The Acting Vice Chancellor further explained that from the point at which the university had only accredited programmes, all and sundry in the institution had worked to get full accreditation in all the 23 programmes.
All of these efforts, he noted, would have come to naught but for the intervention of the Rivers State Governor, Barrister Nyesom Wike.
“The credit must be given to his Excellency, Barrister Nyesom Wike, because of the support he gave to us. Ministry of Education was on had to ensure that we realised that goal (full accreditation)”, he said.
