Heartland Was Unlucky – Iwu
Emmanuel Iwu feels
Heartland Football Club did all they could against Elkanemi Warriors, but were unlucky to lose in a rescheduled Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) week 35 match on Saturday.
The Heartland shot-stopper felt the result against El-Kanemi Warriors did not reflect what happened on the pitch.
The Naze Millionaires attacked throughout the match, but were defeated 1-0 at the Elkanemi Stadium.
The win sealed the Desert Warriors’ place in the top flight for another season, while the Owerri side are inching closer to life in the Nigeria National League.
“El-Kanemi Warriors are an excellent squad. We knew the dangers that this fixture held for us,” Iwu told newsmen.
“We put so much effort and still lost. We have to accept the result. In football you win and you lose.
“I think we weren’t lucky with the result. Let’s hope from next time we’ll have a little more luck.
“The final outcome absolutely does not reflect what happened on the pitch.
“We want to win our remaining three matches and see how far that will take us. We are hopeful of beating the drop.”
Heartland FC are 18th in the NPFL table with 37 points from 33 games.
