Ekpeye Monarch Confirms Date For New Yam Festival

The date for the traditional
annual festival of the Ekpeye people which is also known as Ogwu Ekpeye has been proclaimed by the chiefs in line with their custom and tradition.
Speaking to our correspondent in a telephone interview, His Majesty, Rtd. Flt. Lent. Robinson O. Robinson, the Eze Ekpeye Logbo 11 of Ekpeye laud confirmed the date fixed by the chiefs as September 26 and October 1, 2016 for folklore night and the main festival day respectively.
Eze Robinson advised the people of Ekpeye and residents to embrace the new yam festival saying “it is our culture which we observe annually”.
Robinson also charged the people to maintain peace and order as the custom required in order to make the historical event a huge success.
Announcing the date, Mr. Andy Chikobi urged the people of Ekpeye and other residents to imbibe the age-long tradition.
