The Rivers State Commissioner for Information and Communications, Dr. Austin Tam-George, has warned the Rivers State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC), especially the acting Managing Director of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), Mrs. Ibim Seminitari, to desist from making false claims of any Federal Government’s involvement in the rehabilitation of Igwuruta-Chokocho-Etche Road.
Tam-George gave the warning while fielding questions from newsmen in his office in Port Harcourt, the Rivers State capital, on Friday.
“The Federal Government is not involved, in any way, in the construction of that road. In fact, Etche has never been mentioned even as a slip of the tongue by the Federal Government in relation to any development projects. The people of Rivers State are familiar with Mrs. Seminitari’s propensity for falsehood and deceit”, the commissioner said.
The commissioner, praised the governor for reconstructing the Igwuruta-Chokocho-Etche Road, which had been abandoned for decades.
“The governor’s direct intervention in reconstructing this road has brought a new lease of life to the people in the area”, the commissioner said.
He commended the Rivers State Governor, Chief Nyesom Wike, for his extraordinary commitment to develop all parts of the state, especially in building quality road infrastructure for posterity.
Tam-George urged the leaders and people of Igwuruta in Ikwerre Local Government Area, and the entire Etche communities to begin mobilization efforts to give Governor Nyesom Wike a rousing reception during the forthcoming commissioning of the Igwuruta-Chochoko-Etche Road.
