Cricket W/Cup: Team Nigeria Set For Zambia
Team Nigeria says it is
set to encounter Zambia in the opening match of the Africa Division 11 Under – 19 Cricket World Cup Qualifier (WCQ) scheduled to kick-off this weekend in Beroni, South Africa.
Team manager of the team Tonye Timinadi, who disclosed this yesterday, in a telephone interview said that the team was focused on noting less than a win in tomorrow’s game which is the opening match of the qualifier.
According to him, the athletes are well-prepared and are determined to qualify for the World Cup expected to hold in 2018.
“My team is in high spirit and are poised to win the Saturday’s match and also ready to win the rest of the qualifying games as to qualify for the World Cup”, Timinadi said.
“I know that my players have what it takes to do their father-land proud and are set to bring glory to the country at the end of the competition, he stated.
Meanwhile, the competition which is expected to proceed this weekend would end on 18th of this month.
Four cricketers were chosen from Rivers State as part of the team: Tonye Timinadi, Team Manager, Tamuno John head coach, Ifeanyi Uboh and Junle Olagunju as players.
Nations to participate in the qualifier include, Zambia, Tanzania, Rwanda, Sierra-Leone, Botswana and Nigeria.
