Wike, A Man Of The People -Tambuwal …As Okrika Demands Skills Acquisition Centre
The Sokoto State Governor, Hon. Aminu Tambunwal, has described Rivers State Governor, Chief Nyesom Wike as a man of the people.
He made the declaration at the weekend while unveiling the refurbished and expanded Okrika (ATC) Landing Jetty at Okrika Town, in Okrika Local Government Area.
Tambunwal, who had earlier inaugurated the newly constructed Alakahia Link Road in Obio/Akpor Local Government Area, said Wike has endeared himself to Rivers people.
“I see that Goveror Wike is a man of the people who is committed to the development of the state, Tambunwal said.
On his part, the Rivers State Governor, Chief Nyesom Wike thanked the Sokoto State Governor for commissioning projects in the state, pointing out that friendship was beyond politics, and that the gesture will provide peer review mechanism for both governors to learn from each other.
Wike remarked that the presence of the Sokoto State governor was an indication that the era of vindictive politics was gone, and that despite political differences, one can still associate.
“My friendship with Governor Tambunwal transcends party politics. When the time for politics comes, we play politics. For now, PDP has won Rivers State”, Wike observed.
He hinted that soon he will reciprocate the gesture, as he will be in Sokoto State to commission projects executed by Tambuwal as well.
In his address, Chairman, Caretaker Committee of Okrika Local Government Area, Edwin Jackbara, commended Governor Wike for expanding the ATC Jetty and improving on the facilities available for boat operators and commuters in the area.
Meanwhile, the Amayanabo of Ogoloma, King G.T.I. Obudibo, has pleaded with the governor to revitalise the skills acquisition centre in Ogoloma to train youth in the area.
Obudibo made the call in an address he delivered during the unveiling of the Okrika (ATC) Jetty last weekend.
The traditional ruler, said Okrika has huge potentials which could be tapped through the development of young talents and skills.
He also called for the expansion of the ongoing land reclamation to provide more land for the Okrika people.
Obudibo had earlier commended the governor’s leadership and governance style so far in steering the state peacefully, and lauded him for the ongoing water reticulation project in the area, stressing that it is a demonstration of love for Okrika people.
