Tenant Petitions CP Over Malicious Damage By Landlord

A tenant residing at
Omuchi Farm Road, Igwuruta in Ikwerre Local Government Area of Rivers State, Mr. Orioke Rotimi, has petitioned to the State Commissioner of  Police over an alleged vandalisation of his properties by his  landlord, Mr Charles  Amadi, describing  the action as ‘General  and Unlawful.
The petitioner in a letter addressed to the  state  Commissioner  of Police dated 27 July, 2016 alleged  that his landlord  invaded his  premises  with three other men and broke his lock, threw  out all his properties  and vandalized same, while he was away to Ibadan.
He further  alleged that  his properties have been in the rain for over two  weeks and added that he did not know the reason why his properties were thrown out and vandalized by Mr Charles Amadi.
According to him, that throwing out of his properties was without an order  from the court” adding that the action of the accused  persons was a product of self help, a criminal act and a blatant  violation of his right.
Mr. Orioke averred that his personal  belongings that were affected worth more than two million naira and added that  his landlord  has been  threatening to unleash more terrors to him and the family.
He appealed to the state commissioner of police to use his good offices to ensure that the suspects were arrested and  brought to book and added that his  action was a clear  affront to the rule of law.
When contacted on phone, over the allegation, the accused, who is the landlord to the petitioner, Mr. Charles Amadi, told our reporter that he would not give him any explanations.
His words “I will wait him at the court if he considered any actions illegal. Let him call a lawyer and we will meet at the court. I am not in the position to tell you any thing about the matter” he declared.
