RSTTA Awaits Funds For 19th NSF, U-17

Tennis Association says it awaits approval and release of funds ahead of the forthcoming National under 17 Youth Sports Festival and 19th National Sports Festival scheduled to hold in September and November respectively.
Secretary of the association, Tekena Lulu-Poku disclosed this yesterday in an interview with Tidesports at the Alfred Diette Spiff Sports Complex, Moscow Road, in Port Harcourt.
According to him, the competitions are fast approaching and there is no serious, preparation on ground for the athletes, following the non-availability of funds for the athletes to prepare for U-17 Sports festival.
This might spell doom for the state when the competitions eventually begins, if urgent attention is not given to the development and fast too”, Poku said.
The scribe stated that the time is so short, adding that September is just around the coner and no intensive training to fortify the athletes ahead of challenges that might come with the competitions.
He, however advice the athletes to remain calm and focused until something is done, saying that, they should not relent in their individual and team training to ensure that they do the state proud at the fiesta.
It would be recalled that the competition was earlier scheduled to hold this month, but later shifted to September, this year.
