RSG Tasks Ministries On Public Procurement
The Rivers State Gov
ernment has stressed the need for Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAS) to comply with the Public Procurement Law of the state.
The State Commissioner for Health, Dr Theophilus Odagme, stated this during a one-day training organised for directors and other government functionaries at the Bureau of Public Procurement office in Port Harcourt recently with the theme “A Guide on Effective Implementation on Public Procurement Law of the State”.
Dr Odagme said the training would ensure more compliance with the provision of the procurement law.
He noted that the training was meant to help improve on the services of the MDAs and was expected to reflect positively in the discharge of their duties to the state.
According to him, their mandate should be taken seriously and they should never relent in their commitment in delivering services to the people of the state in line with the vision of the State Governor, Barr. Nyesom Wike.
He further commended the organizers of the training, while describing it as worthwhile which needs to be done continuously.
Also speaking, the state Director General of Bureau of Public Procurement, Mr. Igonibo Emmanuel Thompson, also emphasised the need for the PPL to be adhered strictly.
Igonibo noted that it would ensure transparency, minimal cost and efficiency adding that it is the root of the Bureau of Public Procurement.
He further called on permanent secretaries to ensure that they work in harmony with their political heads.
According to him, the participants have been taught how best to process all procurements and are acquainted with the correct reporting lines in dealing with the BPP.
