Re-run Polls Shift Worries TUC
As reactions continue to
trail the shift in the legislative re-run polls in Rivers State, the Chairman of the Trade Union Congress (TUC) in the state, Comrade Austine Jonah has blamed the action of the Independent National Electoral Commission on politicians who placed their selfish interest above the people in the society.
Jonah who stated this in an interview with newsmen in Port Harcourt frowned at the frequent postponement of the re-run in the state, advised that politics should not be a do or die affair.
According to him, the continued shifting of the Assembly re-run polls has adversely affected the socio-economic development of the state.
He called on INEC to show transparency and seriousness in carrying out its assignment and avoid being influenced by politicians.
Jonah restated his support for the Nyesom Wike administration in the state, saying that a sustainable economic policy was imperative in the face of the country’s dwindling economic fortune.
He urged both government and security agencies to seriously address security issues as, according to him, no state can flourish economically if there is no security of lives and properties.
