The Rivers State Deputy Governor, Dr Ipalibo Harry Banigo has commended Rivers people for their solidarity and peaceful conduct, especially party faithful during the PDP National Convention in Port Harcourt, on Wednesday.
Banigo, in a statement, yesterday, said the self-restrait and maturity exhibited by the leadership and stakeholders of PDP despite the provocative action of security operatives in sealing-off the Sharks Football Stadium, designated for the convention, was exemplary, describing the action of the security agencies as a sad reminder of a military era and show of impunity.
The deputy governor showered encomiums on all the leaders of the party from across the nation for taking proactive measures to douse the tension generated by enemies of the PDP, noting that the outcome of the convention was another testimony that Rivers people are peace-loving and law- abiding.
She particularly thanked Governor Nyesom Wike for all the logistics arrangement put in place to ensure a successful National Convention, and advised party faithful to remain committed, steadfast and work towards building a strong, virile and united PDP.
