The Nigerian Bar
Association (NBA) has called on the Federal Government to fight the ongoing war against corruption in the country devoid of political witch hunt and vendetta.
The out-going president of NBA, Augustine  Alegeh (SAN) made this call while speaking at the opening of the 56th NBA Conference in Port Harcourt, Sunday.
Mr Alegeh said that members of the association were ready to support the federal government, only when it is done with fairness and sincerity of purpose.
He averred that the war against corruption can be won in accordance with the rule of law, adding that their support in that regard was unwavering.
“We will support the federal government and  assist with free services in the current fight against corruption only if, the fight was genuine and not to collect from  one man’s wealth and give to another”, he stated.
The 27th president of the Nigerian Bar Association averred that their commitment to zero tolerance in corruption cannot be compromised and urged the federal government to pursue the fight within the ambit of the law.
The Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) lauded the state government for the support given to the association, adding that the success of the conference was attributed to the huge support from the state government.
