The National Agency for
Food, Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) says its latest cutting-edge mobile laboratory will ensure 100 per cent water safety in the country.
The Acting Director-General of NAFDAC, Mrs Yetunde Oni, said this in Enugu while addressing staff of the agency in South- East on the new restructuring and re-branding of the agency.
Oni, who was represented by Prof. Samson Adebayo, Director of Planning, Research and Statistics of NAFDAC, said mobile laboratory for water, called `Move 100′, would bring transformation to water hygiene and safety.
She said that the mobile laboratory would ensure instant testing of water even in the remotest part of the country in order to ensure that issue of unsafe water would be history.
“I am appealing to Nigerians to give us information; intelligence gathering through information sharing is what would lead the country to success against fake and sub-standard drugs.
“We have our offices, NAFDAC codes and phone numbers that members of the public can use to get information, complaints and suggestion across.
“NAFDAC cannot be everywhere, but the members of the public joining the fight will make success sure for everybody in the country,” she said.
The acting director-general said that the agency was working through various associations and unions to drive home the success of the agency.
“What we do now is to embark on building the capacity of the associations and unions to engage in best international practices instead of wielding a big sanction and stick over them.
“We are succeeding in this regard and this had builtup the capacity of our local manufacturers and producers instead of closing them,” she said.
On the staff, Oni urged them to be dedicated to their duties by being meticulous and upright.
“Uprightness is the foundation of NAFDAC, all staff must be firm and decisive in  their action against fake and sub-standard drugs and foods,” she said.
