A late expertly dispatched free kick from Ikenegbu Ibenegbu stabbed the hearts of the Uyo side and handed all points to Enyimba.
The Media Officer of Akwa United Uwem Ekoh had earlier told newsmen that the Promise Keepers were in mourning mood going into the tie because of the news of the road mishap while adding that the break-in into their vehicle parked outside their hotel base in Port Harcourt in the early hours of Saturday made it an unforgettable weekend for them.
has been a very tough day for us. We woke up to see that our team bus was burgled by armed robbers who capitalized on the lack of space in the hotel compound to steal some valuable items in our bus. What they stole ran into thousands of naira but we thank God we have been able to get it fixed. The loss of one of our supporters was the last straw,” Ekoh said.
