INEC, APC Can’t Rig Re-run Polls – Ikuru

The former Deputy
Governor of Rivers State, Engr Tele Ikuru, says the unilateral suspension of the re-run elections in the state by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) is a calculated but futile attempt to dim the fortunes of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) led administration in the state and rig the polls in favour of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Ikuru, who stated this recently in Bori, noted that INEC’s excuse of insecurity for shifting the elections in the state was incompetent as it was a grand design by the APC to manipulate the polls and steal the people’s mandate.
Ikuru said the state, especially Rivers South-East Zone is deeply rooted in PDP, adding that no magnitude of manipulation or connivance by the APC and INEC would change the situation.
The former Deputy Governor said PDP worked very hard to remain the best choice of the people of the area through the provision of democracy dividends denied them by the previous administration, hence they would continue to cast their votes for the party.
On Andoni Local government area, Ikuru assured that the PDP is fully entrenched in the area and would always sweep the polls.
He said the former House of Assembly Speaker, Rt Hon Ikuiniyi Ibani remains the choice of Andoni people in the re-run election,  assuring that Andoni people have decided to vote enmasse for PDP candidates whenever the legislative re-run polls are conducted.
Ikuru advised INEC not to waste its precious time in rigging any election for APC, insisting that elections in Rivers State cannot be rigged.
